Special weather statement for the weekend. There is a possibility of light snow late Saturday through Sunday at the lower elevations and some heavier stuff up near Vernonia and Mist.

A STORM SYSTEM ORIGINATING IN THE GULF OF ALASKA IS LIKELY TO
BRING HEAVY SNOW TO THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHWEST OREGON AND
SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO
BEGIN AS EARLY AS SATURDAY NIGHT...BUT THE PROSPECTS FOR HEAVIER
SNOW WILL SPREAD DOWN FROM NORTH TO SOUTH LATE SUNDAY AND SUNDAY
NIGHT. SNOW LEVELS THROUGH THE STORM ARE EXPECTED TO BE AROUND
2000 FEET. IN ADDITION TO HEAVY SNOW...STRONG WINDS IN THE
CASCADES MAY BRING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WITH NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY.

EARLY SUNDAY WILL BRING THE POSSIBILITY OF SNOW BACK TO THE LOWER
ELEVATIONS OF INTERIOR NORTHWEST OREGON AND SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON.
WHETHER OR NOT ACCUMULATING SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED WILL DEPEND UPON
HOW MUCH PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED AS WELL AS WHETHER OR NOT
TEMPERATURES WILL BE BELOW FREEZING...WHICH IS UNCERTAIN. AT THIS
TIME...IT LOOKS LIKE LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE SATURDAY
NIGHT AND EARLY SUNDAY MORNING...ESPECIALLY AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE
500 FEET.
